NOMAD MAGAZINE*
A quarterly guide for tourists and adventurers to reduce their ecological footprint
PUBLICATION LAYOUT DESIGN PHOTOGRAPHY
*Published in AIGA’s “Locally Sourced,” 2022
What is this?
Nomad Magazine is a quarterly publication that aims to educate frequent travellers on current trends, challenges, and opportunities in sustainable tourism.
Covering topics from green transportation to eating local, the magazine’s first edition contains two curated editorials and a self-conducted interview with an eco-tour guide from Catalina Island in Avalon, California.
Why does it matter?
The decrease in travel during the Covid-19 pandemic has had a positive impact on the environment, with reduced greenhouse gas emissions and improved air quality. As travel resumes, it is crucial to maintain this positive impact and continue to prioritize sustainable travel options.
Laying it all out
The core of this project revolved around synthesizing a variety of text, imagery, and data visualizations into a cohesive layout design.
Who needs studio lighting, anyway?
One of the components of this magazine was creating a catalog of relevant sustainable products, and since I didn’t have many travel products on hand, I had to get creative with product photography. I’m honestly still surprised I didn’t get kicked out of Walmart.
